Chinese New Year 2022

       Hi I’m Sifu Hayes

The black piece of cloth. Hey you’ve arrived at a point in your training, physically and mentally stating you display the quality’s of a Black Belt. From that point on you take what you’ve learned, expand on it, polish it, and take it into the world.

Now a bit about me.

Began Kung Fu late in life close to 40. That’s 30 ish years ago.

Always found ways to use my Kung Fu, to achieve greater things.

Shooting compound bow. Give me control to be steady, and stay focused.

Scuba diving. Give me control of breath.

Owning and flying ultralight. Give me patience, and focus, how to handle fear.

Electric Unicycle. Give me better balance, strengthened my core, my knees, my ankles. Over 1600 Km. In the last 2 years. I Have been asked many times have you fallen, ahh, yes, that’s why I stay in Kung Fu. We learn it we teach it.

Why am I telling you this.

Everything I do, hobbies, fun stuff, or life itself, reflects back to Kung Fu.

And everything I do in Kung Fu reflects back on life.

The past 2 years have been tuff ones. Here is a short version.

Had some blood number readings that kept rising a little to quick. Had biopsy. May, 26 2021 found cancerous tumour. 6 months later November 16, in the most miserable snow storm. Sifu Brinker got me to the Royal Alex on time. Had some body parts removed, through robotic surgery. Tumour was contained. Doc. Is confident they got everything. Will be going back for periodic tests to make sure. Still learning, and teaching some new muscles how to work.

I come up the ranks, of Kung Fu. Learning, teaching, instructing. But there comes a time when younger instructors need to get their feet wet. Now this is more a time of the observer, lending a helping hand to the younger instructors on what I have learned through the years. I love to watch the progression of students, especially in the I Ho Chaun.

Instructors can’t get you a Black Belt, they can guide you. As long as you do the work you will get there. Instructors are only the pylons to keep you on the path.

Something I would like to leave you with.

Your belief’s, carry more power, than your reality.

    Thank You
