Courage
With courage you will take risks. Hopefully you will have the strength to be compassionate, and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is the foundation of integrity.
Compassion
We are not better than the meanest on earth. While the is a lower class we are in it, while there is a criminal element we are in it, while there is a lower class we are in it, while there is a soul in prison we are not free.
Courage
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
Compassion
How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.
Courage
If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream.
Compassion
All the arguments to prove man's superiority cannot shatter this hard fact: in suffering the animals are our equals.
Courage
Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.
Compassion
....when we finally know we are dying, and all other sentient beings are dying with us, we start to have a burning, almost heartbreaking sense of the fragility and preciousness of each moment and each being, and from this can grow a deep, clear, limitless compassion for all beings.
Courage and compassion
"The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible."

Pain and Compassion
Pain, there is the psychological, emotional and physical. Personally don't like to experience any of these types of pain and don't like to see pain in others. Being compassionate in seeing another persons pain is difficult, we are unwilling to truly look at another persons pain. We first have to accept that pain is a part of living and dying, and no one is immune to pain and suffering. Until we accept that pain and suffering is a part of this life we can't be compassionate. If we comprehend the depth of compassion, then maybe our hearts will be softer to others pain. We cannot be compassionate if we get hung up on the pain we see, we have to look past the pain. When we look past the pain and into the heart, we don't ignore the pain, we accept respect and acknowledge it. We look past the pain, past the suffering and sufferer, past the hurt to the heart. When your heart connects with the person in pain that is compassion. When your heart connects with the sufferer do not speak from analyzing and judging mind speak from what it would be like in there situation. Being compassionate means taking others feelings into consideration, listening to a persons story, not being self centered, looking past their pain and into the heart.
So many people listening to another's pain, can't wait till the sufferer quits talking so they can tell their own story of past or present pain.

Leadership I
Through leadership we may sometimes stretch our creativity. Leaders sometimes find themselves against a wall. Can't go through it, can't climb over it, can't go around it. To a leader that is when it gets exciting. Innovative juices start flowing and ways to get past the wall. Calls for innovation, creativity and courage to find an answer. We have to be models of honesty, compassion, diligence and creativity.

Control
We so often talk about control in the martial arts. Most of the time we are talking about the physical control. But the mental control is where it all starts. Mental control covers a wide range of emotions. Controlling the emotions is not easy for most people. Depending on your mood at the time. A persons emotions can change in a instance, you get cut off in traffic, the traffic lights quit working right when you get there, the train crosses just when you get to the tracks. There are always people wanting to crank you up! Some people thrive on, and live for the cranking up of other peoples emotions, it is a challenge, actually a emotional high for them. One has to learn to take a deep breath, tell yourself that it is not such a big deal, and let it go. Learning how to release emotions is not a overnight thing. It takes years to learn how to control every emotion. Control the mental, that will control the physical.
